You may have noticed from our email signature and website that we are members of 1% for the Planet. I specifically sought out this membership in order to give something back and who better to give it back to than the great provider - Mother Earth.
The membership entails that we donate 1% of our gross yearly turnover to an eligible charity. Last year it went to the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF), with no email notification. This year I have chosen Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC). The reason being is that they are undertaking some wonderful efforts in saving Australia’s native flora and fauna.
They currently manage 29 sanctuaries covering more than 6.5 million hectares (16.1 million acres). They are re-wilding areas where native species have been absent, in some cases for over 100 years - Bilbies in the Pilliga.
Should you wish to do more there is currently a co-donation offer running where new AWC donors who give more than $500 will have their donation matched (limited time).
(You never know but if at sometime in the future if my phone is not answered or your voicemail message not returned promptly I might just be at one of their reserves volunteering.
'Off grid with a purpose’.)
