Well, one still cannot obtain finance for solar panels or battery storage however we can now obtain concessional finance for Energy Efficient Equipment!? I guess we should be thankful for small mercies, after all it was not that long ago that Tony Abbott wished to abolish the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC). At least now it is doing something, albeit some would say perhaps not the most appropriate thing.
So let’s set my environmental and political views aside and discuss what this email is all about:
- The Commonwealth Bank Asset Finance division has established a relationship with the CEFC
- The outcome of this relationship is that for eligible vehicles (they must be on the Green Vehicle Guide) you can obtain a 0.70% discount off the applicable finance rate for that vehicle. This discount is funded by the CEFC - think of your tax dollars doing some good work.
- The hope is that such an initiative will encourage people to purchase more energy efficient vehicles - which can only be a good thing. Note, they do not have to be electric, nor cost a motza, just more efficient than prior models. An example is that several variants of the Toyota Hilux are eligible as are some agricultural implements.
So, if you looking to purchase a new car, farming equipment or the like in the near future, please contact me first to see if the concession is applicable to that particular model. Why not save the planet at the same time as you save your wallet.
